Call The Haz-Mat Team

In the recent stimulus bill was an earmark put in by one of my Iowa Senators. Tom Harkin earmarked some funds to study the management of manure odors. It is my hope that this will cover the stench of the work of our Congress so far. Apparently our elected officials think we are all pretty stupid. Senator Dodd at first was not aware that there was an exemption for AIG, then he thought there might be something there, followed by he might have put in an amendment and finally admitted he did it but he did not really want to do it but the adminstration made him do it. Where are the adults? Hey you guys there in Washington I have a news flash for you..... WE ARE NOT ALL BRAIN DEAD out here in the real world. The smell of what you are dishing out is not covered by the cheap cologne of you lies! Please tell us the truth... WE CAN HANDLE THE TRUTH!

Great Job "Brownie"

President Obama goes on Leno to try and convince us that his "team" is on top of things and that Timothy Geithner is doing a great job. Can this be just like George Bush praising FEMA director Brown after Katrina? It seems that the press has given President Obama a lot more slack than they ever did George W. Bush. I remember him saying he would be ready to hit the ground running from day one. We would regain the respect of the world and we would be loved again by one and all. Russia, North Korea, Venezuela, Iran, and China have thumbed their nose at us. Russian Bombers are making bolder forays in to our hemisphere and are being welcomed by dictators, China harrasses our naval vessels and North Korea and Iran are preparing to upgrade ballastic missile capabilities. Now we learn that enforcing immagration laws is un-American and we might release prisoners here in The United States because their home countries won't take them or might mistreat them. Janet Napolitano refers to terrorism as "man-caused" disasters. Candidate Obama campaigned on Hope and Change, now that we see what that really means then all we can do is HOPE FOR CHANGE! Anyway Timothy "Brownie" Geithner job well done! NOT!!!!

Now What?

I have spent the day watching the Obamathon. The oath has been taken and the speech has been made. Now it is time to get down to business. If Morphy's law applies any place in the universe it is in the Presidents office. Nothing is ever as easy as it looks especially form the outside. Campaigning is easy governing is an entirely different thing. When you campaign (and I have) you can say just about anything you want to say in order to get elected (I did Not) and your words have no real consequences. But when you become president your words carry a lot of weight. Lives are at stake and the world may hang in the balance depending on you to make a decision. George Bush believed that he was correct and Barack Obama believes that he is correct. I believe that they are both men of conviction. Both men have expressed themselves on how things should be done, circumstances however can take the best laid plans and turn them on their head. Promises made and notions held are often left behind when the realities of the world jump up in your face. Many demonized George Bush and made light of him as a man and as President. What if Barack Obama strolls into the Oval Office tomorrow morning and discovers that George Bush was doing what he had to do and not necessarily what he wanted to do. When the weight of responsibility fully settles on him tomorrow morning I pray that he has the wisdom to make the decisions he may not want to make. I know that he is going to sit down behind that desk with the responsibility to keep 300 million people safe give the realities of the world, take a deep breath and say to himself, NOW WHAT?
